Description
"Earth Dragon"
Aprox. 4 x 2.5'
Terracotta
Commission / SOLD
Thank you ahead of time for any favorites and comments!
A few years ago, when I was still a student and had access to a ceramics lab, I was commissioned to do a set of element dragons to decorate a house front. While the client eventually had to cancel the full order due to unforeseen circumstances, I did get to complete the first dragon from the series. Because kilns and clay can sometimes be unpredictable, I always took photos before firing just in case my ceramic baby came out damaged or, worse, blew up--hence the uneven color of the still-drying dragon. I rediscovered these photos whilst file hunting the other day, and thought that they might amuse all of you while I worked on my next painting!
(FYI, he wasn't solid. There's an armature of newspaper underneath, which of course burned away during firing. And yes, he survived!
My 2013 Calendars are available here [link] for $15.99! The first reviews are in, and they are stellar--thank you, everyone who ordered and sent their thoughts!
