Victory...?
When I painted my first "Make-Shift Angel" back in 2007, I didn't expect it to become a series, but time has proven otherwise. This version was inspired by a pose of SilvieTstock's on DeviantArt, which immediately reminded me of the statue of Nike from Samothrace. "Nike" is a slight deviation in that Make-Shift Angels normally don't show their faces and, until now, have been bound with stitches; however, I felt that to hide her face would ruin the flow of the pose, and the gauze she had tied around her chest in the reference photo inspired the binding for her wings.
