Thank you ahead of time for any favorites and comments!
Behold, my first lion of 2012!
Two of my favorite paintings, "I am that I am" and "The Last Unicorn," recently came home from a local show. As I returned them to their places in my studio, I thought it would be interesting to combine the feeling and colors of the two paintings into one. I then received a lion commission with the boon of complete creative freedom--thus, my fallen king and the stars that fell with him.
My thanks to Woxys [link] for permission to use her photo as a reference.

Something about this piece has always stuck with me, so that I can never forget it, no matter how long it's been since I first saw it. I think part of it is that you have given it the absolute perfect title to capture and complement its atmosphere, its beautiful brush strokes, its amazing color scheme. I just love it. <3
What beautiful comments and compliments. Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts and feelings for this piece with me--it's always good to hear when a piece means something to someone.
