One of my friends remarked that I should do a Shakespearean calendar, and I honestly had to smack myself for not having thought of it before. First, of course, had to be Titania.I know a bank where the wild thyme blows,
Where oxlips and the nodding violet grows,
Quite over-canopied with luscious woodbine,
With sweet musk-roses and with eglantine:
There sleeps Titania sometime of the night,
Lull'd in these flowers with dances and delight;
And there the snake throws her enamell'd skin,
Weed wide enough to wrap a fairy in
--Oberon, A Midsummer Night's Dream
, Act II, Scene I, 249-256.
I fit in as many of the above mentioned flowers as I could, but stopped short of making the piece too busy. The gorgeous model, I owe to lockstock [link]
